This piece of equipment is used in our clinic daily. It is primarily used for positioning to help make the client more comfortable while lying face up. Typically, our therapists will use the wedge for a client who is lying on their back, to allow their knees to bend and relieve discomfort in the lower spine, making their treatment more comfortable. The wedge is also a great piece of equipment to take home and use.

Use the wedge for:

  1. Sleeping: the wedge can be placed under your upper body for elevation. This can be beneficial during cold and flu season to elevate and help suppress coughing, and can also help decrease the effects of acid reflux.

  2. Elevating the lower extremities: this position can be helpful to decrease swelling in the lower extremities (feet, ankles, legs and knees).

  3. Crook Lying: placing the wedge under the knees allowing the knees to bend can help take the pressure off of the lower spine.
