Dermo-Neuro Modulation (DNM)
A physical therapy approach that considers the nervous system of a person from the skin cell to sense of self. Techniques are slow, light, kind, intelligent, responsive and effective.
What is DNM?
Ideal candidates for DNM are those:
With chronic pain, defined as pain for more than three months
Who have tried several medications or injections and continue to experience pain
Who don’t qualify for surgery or don’t want to have more invasive surgery
Have had surgery and continue to experience pain
It’s simpler than it sounds! Let’s first break down the word:
“Dermo” means skin, “neuro” refers to your nervous system and “modulation” means change.
So, dermo-neuro modulation (DNM), means contacting the skin and stimulating the nervous system to create change. Slow and gentle techniques are prioritized; the focus is on comfort and relief, and the target tissue is the nervous system rather than the muscular system.
